BackWerk operates around 350 bakeries in the DACH region and is the European market leader in bakery catering. The sale of sandwiches from open, unchilled counters requires comprehensive documentation regarding hygiene, shelf life and quantities, as these products may only be sold for a few hours. Until now, this has been done on paper, which is both error-prone and time-consuming.

A prototyp in a week
Within a week, we developed a fully functional prototype and completely digitised the documentation process for open counters. Paper forms were replaced by a digital system that records hygiene and use-by dates. Using forecasts, food waste can be reduced to a minimum.
From Switzerland to Germany and the Netherlands
Following its successful launch at Zurich Central Station, the solution is now also in use in Germany and the Netherlands.

Even when we need to work quickly, we develop software thoroughly. So thoroughly, in fact, that what started as a one-week prototype has become a solution that’s now up and running in three countries!
