We are an engineering firm for software. We develop web-based software and specialize in complex portals and platforms that are easy to use, easy to find, and work perfectly on any device. Our focus is always on quality and security. 100% line coverage is the norm for our unit tests. Thanks to our location in Wallisellen near Zurich, we maintain short communication channels with our customers.

We are young, well-educated, and our know-how includes the latest web technologies and systems. In today's fast-paced digital world, it is important for us to stay up-to-date and constantly educate ourselves. We do not develop off-the-shelf solutions but consider each project as something unique. That's why our projects are as unique as our customers.

To support our team, we are looking for you as a software engineer.

Your Task

As a software engineer at Renuo, you develop new features and keep our applications fast, secure, and reliable. Depending on your interests and skills, you work more in the frontend and need React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, or more in the backend, where our main technology is Ruby on Rails. We also use other technologies like Flutter for mobile apps.

This means specifically:

  • Software engineering with web technologies

  • Requirements gathering, technical support, and customer consultation

  • Database design

  • Participation in project management (Scrum)

We are not after heroic deeds or night shifts: this is a job with 42 hours per week (or less if you want).

Our Expectations

We are looking for candidates with (at least) a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), preferably but not limited to software, electronics, math or physics. You should have experience with the building blocks of web development. Our stack is HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Vanilla, Stimulus, React, Angular), Ruby on Rails, SQL (Postgres), Redis, Heroku, AWS, Google.

If you are missing something, that's no problem. We will teach you! We care more about your willingness to learn than how you got here.

This is not a remote job. You must live in Switzerland and come to the office two to three times a week. All other days are up to you: you work where you work best: in our office, in your home office, in a co-working space, or in a café.

What we offer

Depending on your experience, you can expect a salary between CHF 84,000 (Junior) and CHF 108,000 (Senior).

What we offer

Depending on your experience, you can expect a salary between CHF 84,000 (Junior) and CHF 108,000 (Senior).

Our benefits include:

  • 10% Investment Time: You can spend 10% of your working time exploring new tools/technologies and learning new things. This time is paid and belongs to you.

  • Learning Week: We spend one week each year learning and growing together. This week serves team building, getting to know each other better, and discovering new, unusual technologies. It's all about doing what everyday work doesn't allow.

  • Learning Days: At least once a quarter, we organize a shorter version of the Learning Week. A Learning Day focuses on a specific topic, and it's up to everyone to participate or not.

  • 20% of company profits are shared: Each year we share 10% of the company's profit with all employees. We donate an additional 10% to charities and open-source projects.

  • Flexible working hours: For us, this means not only that you decide when you work, but also how much. The salary is based on the hours worked, and you get a flexible hours/week contract. You decide how much you want to work.

  • We run our company with heart

  • We are happy to delegate responsibility and give you a lot of autonomy

  • We have as few rules as necessary

Apply now

Please apply with a resume and a cover letter in which you tell us about yourself and describe what you can contribute to Renuo. Tell us about something you've done, something that's relevant to our work, something that excites you. Be descriptive but don't write a novel – 500 words or so are sufficient.

If you are involved in any form of open-source work, please include links to pull requests, bug reports, feature pitches, or other public engagements. Participation in open-source activities is by no means a requirement, but if you've done something, we'd love to take a look.

We respond to all applications!

Samuel Steiner ([email protected]) is looking forward to hearing from you!
